About Me

A bit about me.....I have a BS in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I maintain a Professional Counselor License from the State of Wisconsin and engage in continuing education, personal growth and collegial consultation to keep my work fresh and grounded. I have over 30 years of experience caring for people; both through pastoral and professional counseling paradigms. I served as a Counselor Educator in a graduate program in the Milwaukee area for over 10 years. My passion is working with people in their areas of deepest need, confusion and longing. I believe human beings are similar at the core; with acceptance of self and others, healthy attachments and hope being essential for growth.

I address the whole person and utilize modalities of care that fit the individual needs of my clients, and utilize competent referrals when presenting issues are beyond my scope of focus, training and competence. I have intentionally embraced a model of care that is supportive and consultative in nature, which utilizes my strengths and competencies, and allows an interactive approach to the work.

While Christian spirituality and belief informs and infuses the care I provide, it will never imposed on those who embrace different beliefs and life practices, and I welcome a diversity of clients.

I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1990 and have four emerging-adult children. I am a competitive runner; fitness and nutrition (within reason!) are a large part of my everyday life. I have experienced a fair amount of suffering and struggle in my own life, and disclose that in the caring relationship where it benefits my clients. I know what it feels like to be a client, and intentionally stay in counseling for my own needs and growth.
