A bit about me.....I have a BS in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MS in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I have attained my Professional Counselor License from the State of Wisconsin. I have experience in both Clinical and Pastoral counseling and have served as a Counselor Educator in a graduate program in the Milwaukee area. My passion is working with people in their areas of deepest need, confusion and longing. I believe human beings are similar at the core; with acceptance of self and others, healthy attachments and hope being essential for growth.
Although I do not operate from a particular theory of counseling, I address the whole person and utilize modalities of treatment that fit the individual needs of my clients. There is no area of personal struggle I am unwilling to work with, and utilize competent referrals when presenting issues are beyond my scope of training and competence.
I have been married to my wonderful husband since 1990 and have four emerging-adult children. I am a competitive runner; wellness is a huge passion and pursuit for me. I have experienced a fair amount of suffering and struggle in my own life, and disclose that in the therapeutic relationship where it benefits my clients. I know what it feels like to be a client, as I have been in counseling at various times throughout my life, and continue to integrate this as a regular discipline of self-care and professional development.
Several colleagues and I work together in a Clinical Community model of counseling; we are each independent business owners but collaboratively support, consult and make cross-referrals in the same office. Some of my colleagues are Graduate Student Interns and Counselors-in-Training, which allows clients the ability to access excellent care, a wide range of services and a wide range of fee structure.
